Our 8th album PRESS PLAY is released tomorrow -- and boy, are we excited to share it with you! A whole lotta heart and soul went into this project; I’d like to take a sec to spotlight some of the talented folks who inspired me and contributed so generously.
The insanely creative and talented Brazilian artist Sergio Bergocce designed the album artwork. Such a pleasure to collaborate with him! Follow Sergio on instagram. Great stuff.
Local hero and Emmy Award winning photographer Randee Daddona took awesome pics of the band; she’s always up for an adventure and such a blast to work with. Follow Randee's shenanigans on Instagram too!
Thanks to June Beckstead, longtime seamstress for the band (SFTB), all-around wonderful person and great friend, for helpin’ to suit us up.
My lovely wife, Bridget Rymer art directed. Pullin’ it all together with such enthusiasm, style and the perfect eye. They don’t call her The Chief Optimist for nothin’.
Bill Holloman (Chic, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross) brought a bunch of his horns to the session and proceeded to play the bejesus out of 'em all - trombone, trumpet, baritone sax! Loved how he just blew right in, adding so much pop and swagger to the sound.
Marty Rifkin (Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Jewel, Glen Campbell) added steel guitar and dobro all the way from LA. HIs contributions sounded like he was right here in the room jammin’ with the band! It was an honor to work with this guy; the man with the perfect touch.
Nate Grower from David Bromberg’s Band drove up from Delaware to play some sweet fiddle. Such a unique player! Inventive, supportive - his spirit and ideas added such richness, depth and beauty to the tunes.
Steve Fallone of Sterling Sound added the perfect last touch with his masterly mastering. Bigger, richer, brighter - kinda like the sun comin’ up.
Brooklyn's Mission Sound engineer Myles Turney kept us loose, inspired and on track to track basics for all 12 tunes in just 3 days. Bass, drums, keys, guitar & even some vocals all sounded wonderful! It was a beautiful blur...
And a special shout out to our long-time producer, engineer, saxophonist and best-buddy, Dan Myers. He not only played the sax, but he did all the knob twisting, tweaking, mixing - basically making everything sound incredible. Thanks for your colossal commitment and your solid gold ears. We worked harder on this one than any other - side by side, day after day - and ya know, I’ve never had so much fun!
